in 2007.. a day before my birthday

Back in my college tour days, we were in hotel at Munnar, a hill station in kerala. It was early in the morning, few of my friends were already getting ready and few of them were still enjoying their sleep. We were asked to step into bus by 7.30, and everyone was ready by that time. Bus started as soon as everyone stepped in. It was very cold, and a drizzle accompanied us all the way. Everyone was eagerly waiting for the bus to stop as we knew that we are going to visit the best part of Munnar. All the way, it was a cool journey with tea plants on either side of the road and fine drops of rain made the place more scenic.

After few hours, we were at the base of a hill. We boarded other bus, and in no time we were above sea level by some thousands of feet. We could see nothing from the place we stood as fog covered the place completely. Almost everyone was freezing but I bet everyone enjoyed it. Cameras were busy taking pictures. When we were returning back from the top, Sharan's finger was bleeding. He was shocked as he did not knew when he actually received a friendly hello from a leech. Sometime later, we were off the hill.

From that place, we were taken to echo-point, the place where all boys showed their power of vocal cords. Spent sometime there before we reached a shopping spot. It was around 6 pm in the evening, few of us stepped out of bus for shopping and the bus started to hotel with the remaining. It was raining still, and we gave no importance to it. When we were busy roaming, Yash received a call. I don't know who was at the other side but the call summary was to buy a cake for my birthday. Yash had no chance to make it as a surprise for me, so he bought the cake and candles, and I stood there watching my cake getting packed in a box.

It was already very late, and a sandwich in a bakery made us wait even more. Atlast, we started back to hotel and when we reached our hotel, our sir welcomed us with anger as we expected. Sometime later, the time was reserved for my cakecut. Though it was not a surprise to me, I was very happy as I experienced my first cake cut in my life. I thank all my friends who were part of it. I din't had an habit of writing diary in those days, otherwise, a day before my birthday would have been the colourfull page of the diary.

Luck is equal to Success

Few days back, the separate Telangana state issue called me to spend sometime with television. That day, I was busy watching different channels. In that process, I came across a channel which was organising a debate. I pulled back my fingers from the remote for a while and lent my ears to know about the topic. The topic was- which plays an important role in success? Hardwork or Luck? On hearing it, I experienced a tiny grin on my face as I felt that it was an easy topic to talk about.

I personally felt that “it is hardwork which is responsible to reach the doors of success and it is luck which knocks the door.” As it was a debate, few of them were on the track of hardwork and few of them were on the track of luck. All their words fell on my deaf ears as I strongly believed in my opinion.

Time ticker was busy with its work. Finally, time has arrived to give an end to the show. The person who was a judge to that show asked to conclude with his views about the topic. His talk on that day made me think for a while. He said “Luck is the other name which can be used in place of Success. A person who gets success will be treated as a lucky person otherwise he is not. It means, luck is just a word which we use to denote the success. So, Luck is achieving success with hardwork.”

He ended with a statement “Luck is just an output, and it cannot be used as an input.” It broadened my eyes even more and I shifted to music channel to come out of that topic. However, that 20minute show made me to believe-Luck is equal to Success!!
